Swiss Chalet Interview Questions and Answers
1. Tell us about yourself?
- It’s okay to talk about your hobbies and interests but keep it brief. Try and focus on related work experience. Remember having related work experience will put you ahead of the competition.
2. What can you tell us about Swiss Chalet?
Interviewers ask this question to weed out applicants who are hoping to get an interview by randomly applying to hundreds of jobs. Instead, they want to meet with applicants who have done their research about the Swiss Chalet. Here are a few facts about this company

- The parent company is Cara Operations Limited.
- Swiss Chalet has apps for both Android and Apple.

3. Why do you want to work at Swiss Chalet?
- Mention you love the product and the service you get and because of this, you would be happy to represent them.
- Say you would be proud to work for a company that is so committed to animal welfare.
4. What is your greatest strength?
- I am a quick learner (this is a great answer because they will have to spend less time training you)
- I work well under pressure (this is a great answer because all restaurants have their rush hour and you need to stay focused during this time)
5. What is your greatest weakness?
- You should not deny you have a weakness or state strengths as a weakness (I am a perfectionist, or I work too hard and neglect my friends and family). State a weakness that is required for the role but not a dealbreaker if you don’t have it.
- When you state your weakness say what you are doing to overcome that weakness. For example, I have a fear of public speaking, and I have enrolled in a public speaking class to overcome my fear.
6. How would you deal with an upset customer?
- I would find out what is wrong with the customer. If it was the product I would offer to replace it (mention you would check with your manager first) it is important to keep the customer happy as an unhappy customer will never return.
7. Where do you see yourself in five years?
It is ok if your career goals do not align with the restaurant industry. But make sure the interviewer realizes you are going to work there for more than a few months.
Sample Anwer, “I plan to become a teacher in five years. Currently, I’m in my second year of university. Working at Swiss Chalet would be a fantastic way to support myself through school.”
8. Why should I hire you?
The site best-job-interview.com recommends the following tips when answering this question.
- Be straightforward and confident about your abilities.
- Highlight the reasons why you are the right candidate.
- Be enthusiastic about why you want this job.
- Confirm your ability to work hard.
9. What hours can you work?
- The more flexible you are with your hours, the better your chance of getting hired, so be flexible!
- Let the interviewer know you can work on weekends and/or holidays if possible.
10. Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a customer.
- Customers love when you go above and beyond for them which will, in turn, generate more business. Try and think of a time you went above and beyond for a customer. For example, when I was a server at a restaurant we did not have a particular dessert in the restaurant. Luckily the restaurant next door had it and I was able to get it for the customer.
- Here’s another example: in my last job I worked at a fast-food chain. There was a senior citizen at the restaurant and he had finished his meal. It started to rain and he was worried, as he did not have an umbrella. Luckily, I had an umbrella, so I walked him to his car, sheltering him from the rain.
