  • The first JOEY Restaurant opened in 1992 in Calgary Alberta.
  • The company’s founding President and CEO is Jeff Fuller who is the son of Leroy “Bus” Fuller (who founded Earls)

3. Why do you want to work at JOEY?

  • State what you like about JOEY and why you think they are better than their competitors.
  • If a career a JOEY will help achieve your career goals state what your career goals are and why working at JOEY will help you. For example, suppose you are applying for a career as a server and your goal is to become a restaurant manager. Obviously, you will gain valuable restaurant experience working as a server.

4. How would you define excellent customer service?

  • The customer is not waiting long for their order.
  • Customers receive friendly service.
  • The restaurant is clean both inside and outside.
  • The product is made to order.

5. Why should I hire you?

  • Look at the job description and find the essential skills and experience required to do the job. Reassure the interviewer that you have the skills and expertise necessary to do the position. Note your answer needs to demonstrate that you are the solution to the employer’s problem (a vacancy on their team) and that you are the best person for the role.

  • The best way to respond to this question is to describe your skills and experience that directly correlate with the job you are applying for. Therefore review the job description and reassure the interviewer that you have the experience and skills to do the job.

8. How do you feel about standing on your feet all day?

  • If possible tell the interviewer you do not have a problem with this as most jobs in restaurants will require you to work on your feet for long periods. Try to wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes with low heels, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated.

9. How would you deal with an upset customer?

  • Listen and let the customer vent.
  • Show the customer you care.
  • Don’t blame the customer or the company.
  • Try to solve the problem or find someone who can.
  • Don’t make promises you can’t keep.

10. What hours can you work?

  • Try to be flexible when answering this question. The more flexible you are with your hours, the better chance you will have of landing the job.
  • State you understand if you need to work weekends and holidays.
